Glu Mobile’s Ancient Empires II Wins Game of the Year Award from Mobile Game Faqs

Glu Mobile, leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, has won two awards from the popular UK website Mobile Game Faqs for Ancient Empires II, including its most prestigious accolade - Game of the Year 2005.

Mobile gamers should prepare for battle in Ancient Empires II - the epic sequel to the award-winning strategy game Ancient Empires. A new danger threatens the Kingdom of Thorin, and this time King Galamar and Valadorn must fight side by side to defeat the forces of evil. Ancient Empires II features multiple levels in story mode as well as unlockable skirmish levels, and even downloadable bonus maps for compatible handsets.

Explaining why Ancient Empires II won Game of the Year 2005, Mobile Game Faqs commented: "It's got pretty much everything you could want, is really well put together and even manages to improve on the original... after you play the game you'll see why it's won. A game which seems so simple but with such depth involved and an AI that for once is capable of outsmarting you. So good I played it through three times."

Mobile Game Faqs editor Costas Stephanides added: "Glu is the developer of choice for many as not only are their titles outstanding in all aspects, they are also one of the main forces in converting classic games for the mobile format as well as innovative titles of their own."

Glu Mobile games also received the following accolades:

Best puzzle: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - finalist

"We were blown away by the replication of the TV quiz show. Beware of sweaty palms."

Best strategy: Ancient Empires II - winner

"My favourite strategy game, beautiful graphics and sound, bucket loads of strategy involved and scarily addictive. It was going to be hard to beat this as the overall design and package combined with the intricacies of gameplay, intriguing plot and four player option really set this one apart."

Best sound: Ancient Empires II - finalist

"Sound in every aspect of the game, from the main tune to the higher tempo battle music to the excellent sound effects."

Best developer: Glu - finalist

"A great games house... Glu games have rarely disappointed."

Special mentions: Speedball 2 - finalist

"We had to mention this game as it's such a faithful conversion of one of the greatest classics of all time. Just mentioning the team Brutal Deluxe evokes waves of nostalgia. Perfect."
