LEIPZIG, Germany and SINGAPORE - May 19, 2009 - From September 17-20, 2009, the third annual GCA Games Convention Asia will be a bustling show of artsy performances and elaborately dressed gaming enthusiasts. On Saturday, September 20th, GCA will host a qualifying round of the Asia Pacific Cosplay Championship 2009, which takes place in Perth, Australia at GO3 (October 1st- 4th).

The cosplay competition is open to anyone wearing a costume based on Japanese pop-culture, including Anime, Manga, and Video Games (Console and Computer). Participants are called to walk on stage in character, pose and give a brief interview in character, all in front of the energetic GCA crowd. Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

Best Male Costume

Best Female Costume

Best Group Costume (maximum of 4 people per group).

Everyone who participates will get their chance to be a star, and the GCA editorial team, as well as partner media will be covering the event. Everyone will be looking for the top local talent to represent the Asia-Pacific region in the world championships and bring pride to their nation.

A professional jury will chose the best costumes and performances in each category. Out of the three winners the overall winner will be receiving a trip to Perth, Australia, and the Asia Pacific Cosplay Championship at GO3. To be a part of the competition, participants need to submit an application, picture of the character to be cosplayed, and any music to accompany your stage visit, at www.gc-asia.sg. All entries must be received until July 31st.
