GamesIndustry.biz to launch German edition in April

MCV founder Christoph Holowaty to spearhead entry to German market

A German edition of GamesIndustry.biz is to launch in April, with MCV founder Christoph Holowaty acting as managing editor.

The site will offer market-leading daily news, analysis, interviews and features, with exclusive German market editorial alongside the current English-language content.

"Launching a GamesIndustry.biz product in Germany is something we've wanted to do for a long time, but for us the most important element was finding the right person to do it," said Phil Elliott, managing editor of GamesIndustry.biz.

"In Christoph we believe we've found the ideal person to spearhead the local version of the site - he has a fantastic knowledge of the industry, a great contacts book and understands perfectly the values and vision that's helped give GamesIndustry.biz the reputation it enjoys today."

Holowaty has almost 20 years of market experience, founding trade paper MCV - The Market for Home Computing and Video Games in 1995 for Computec Media in Germany. He was also involved in the launch of MCV UK and MCV USA and in 1999 launched MCV Online.

"Phil and I share the same vision when we are talking about high quality, professional journalism", added Holowaty.

"With GamesIndustry.biz Germany we will build up a business platform which will be unmatched in the country. More than 23,000 decision-makers are already registered with GamesIndustry.biz - a clear sign that it's an essential resource for the international industry. I am very proud to build on this platform with a dedicated presence in Germany."

www.de.gamesindustry.biz will be published by Extent Media, the team behind Eurogamer Deutschland.
