Games development exhibition

Former Canterbury College students to show off their skills this Saturday in Canterbury.

Former Canterbury College games development students are showcasing their work to industry professionals in an exhibition that is being run independently by them. The exhibition will take place this Saturday (24th July 2010) in The Harris Hall at the St Lawrence cricket ground in Canterbury and will also be open to the public. Entrance to the exhibition will be free and the former students (who now run their own independent company – Free Fall Entertainment) will be revealing the progress of their game concepts throughout the day as well as showcasing games merchandise, working demos, visual cut scenes, games art and also games narrative.

The exhibition has been funded completely by the students and they are aiming to get developers interested in their projects by showcasing the early stages to them. Fundamental to this is also gaining audience feedback from the public so they are hoping that the day will also provide an opportunity for this. Exhibiting on Saturday will also be projects that have recently been earmarked by a games giant as fascinating prospects. The game "Cogman" and "Phased States" despite being in the early development stages were recently singled out as potential future projects.

Finally the students will be running workshops throughout the day that will demonstrate the work that goes into games development from conceptual stage through to building the games engine.
