GamePlay Space shutters after eight years

The Montreal-based non-profit closes due to difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic

Non-profit organization co-working space dedicated to games development GamePlay Space has closed its doors after eight years.

GamePlay was established by Execution labs, Concordia University, various local institutions, and indie groups.

The decision to close was due to the difficulty sustaining itself during the COVID-19 pandemic and transitioning work climate.

"We still believe in the importance of knowledge sharing and support systems within the gaming industry," said the organization.

"We have full faith that our community will take up the mantle and, as such, preserve the spirit of GamePlay Space in whatever comes next."
