Gameloft revenues fell 13% in Q1

Vivendi attributes decline in sales and users to a lack of new releases

Gameloft's revenues fell 13 per cent in the first quarter, according to parent company Vivendi, largely due to a lack of new releases in the accounting period.

In the three-month period ended March 31, 2018, Gameloft earned €79 million in revenue, a 13.4 per cent decline over the same quarter last year. On a constant currency basis, the decline was 7.4 per cent.

The mobile publisher also suffered on other key metrics. It had 114 million average monthly active users in the quarter, compared to 138 million a year ago, while DAUs fell from 16 million to 13 million.

Vivendi didn't release operating profit figures, but it did mention a lack of new releases as the reason for the drop in revenue. The company expects that situation to improve in Q2 thanks to the launch of Dungeon Hunter Champions on May 3. Overall, the Dungeon Hunter series has amassed 100 million downloads, and Vivendi said that, "sales of [Champions] were off to an excellent start even before its release in China."

Vivendi has reportedly closed two Gameloft studios this year: New Orleans in February, and Madrid one month later.
