Future to launch PS3 digital magazine

New on-console only publication to be available from early 2009

Future, the publisher behind a number of videogame magazines and websites, has announced it is to provide an on-console only weekly digital magazine for the PlayStation 3, available through the PlayStation Network.

PS3 owners in the UK will be able to download the magazine onto their consoles from early 2009, which will be followed by a roll-out across Europe. Earlier this year, Future launched Qore in the US, as a monthly programme for North American users of the PlayStation Network.

"We are very excited to further strengthen our relationship with Sony, working together on this ground-breaking product," said Robert Price, Future's UK chief executive. "As the publisher of official magazines and digital content for Sony PlayStation in the US and UK, we are creating powerful integrated media solutions for readers and advertisers across different platforms, in print and online. This product will provide a unique way for advertisers to connect directly with gamers through their consoles using the very latest high definition content."

This news comes after Future saw its share price drop to the lowest value in seven years to 21 pence - just 0.5 above from its lowest point ever in 2001.
