Fortnite drops early access label as Save the World enters full release

Development to slow with official launch, but PvE mode will remain a premium buy-in

Epic Games has announced it will remove the "Early Access" moniker from all Fortnite game mode loading screens and officially bring its PvE Save the World mode into full release.

In a blog post from the Fortnite developers, the team said it would also keep its Save the World mode as a premium experience rather than shifting it into free-to-play as originally planned -- the free-to-play Battle Royale mode will remain free.

Additionally, Epic will be slowing down development on Save the World following what it considers the game's official release, and in the coming months will stop supporting future cosmetic purchases from the Battle Royale mode in Save the World -- though past purchases will continue to function as they do now.

Finally, Epic stated that all paid "Founders" of the Save the World mode will have their Founders Packs upgraded and receive rewards from the higher tier, while Ultimate Edition owners will receive a new cosmetic pack on top of existing rewards, and 8,000 V-bucks (approximately $8 USD).
