Fire Emblem: Three Houses conquers the EMEAA retail charts

But Nintendo's strategy epic is unable to dethrone Grand Theft Auto in the combined physical and digital rankings

The latest EMEAA games charts are in, and Grand Theft Auto V is No.1 yet again.

Driven in part, no doubt, by players wanting to visit out the lucrative new in-game casino, Rockstar's title remains the best-selling game across Europe, the Middle-East, Africa and Australia in terms of combined physical and digital sales.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses debuted in second, but was the highest selling game when it comes to physical-only data.

In fact, Switch dominated retail this week, with five our of the Top 10 titles exclusive to the platform. Fire Emblem led the charge, followed by Super Mario Maker 2, Mario Kart 8 DX, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and the Switch version of Minecraft.

The third and fourth best-selling physical games -- Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Crash Team Racing -- were also available on Switch. The former debuted at No.6 in the combined charts.

GTA V was fifth in the retail rankings, suggesting it is the digital versions of the game driving its current success.

Back in the combined charts, the power of price promotions was once again prominent, with Marvel's Spider-Man leaping from No.25 to No.7, and Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 soaring from No.127 to No.8.

Both titles were driven by digital discounts, as they appear at No.2 and No.3 respectively in the download charts. Other games to benefit from such promotion included Red Dead Redemption 2 (up from No.29 to No.5), God of War (up from No.213 to No.6) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (up from No.115 to No.8).

Digital data includes games sold in Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and UAE.

Physical data includes all games, but only those sold in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
