Eurogamer Network, the publisher of GamesIndustry.biz and consumer site Eurogamer.net, has announced the appointment of former Future CEO Greg Ingham as strategic advisor.

In his new role, Ingham will help plan the growth of Eurogamer Network as the company looks to expand in 2007.

A prominent figure in the games media industry, Ingham's career in journalism began in 1982 and he launched trade magazine CTW two years later.

In 1988 he joined Future Publishing, taking the company from fifth place in the games magazine sector to clear market leader within four years. He became managing director and then CEO of Future and oversaw an MBO and flotation before stepping down in June of this year.

Ingham is currently chair of the DTI Games Forum, a Trustee of industry charity ESC and chief executive of MediaClash, a diverse media business based in Bath.

"We're very pleased to have the benefit of Greg's advice and experience. He has unparalleled achievements in games media in the UK, mainland Europe and the US," said Eurogamer MD Rupert Loman.

"This comes at an exciting time for Eurogamer as we anticipate further rapid growth in our activities. We've come a long way in a short time - the opportunities now facing us are spectacular."

Ingham added, "I'm delighted to be involved. Rupert and his team have built a real success with great prospects - all the more impressive given that it was a self-financed startup and has grown organically in the face of strong competition.

"As we all know, the online sector is enjoying tremendous growth; this is a great time to be back in games media."

Eurogamer.net is the UK's most popular independent videogames website, attracting more than 1.2 million unique users per month. A German version of the site, Eurogamer.de, was launched earlier this year, and Eurogamer Network also publishes leading trade sites GamesIndustry.biz and MobileIndustry.biz.
