Epic opens Berlin outpost

Publishing office to give company a more local presence in Europe and Russia

Epic Games is expanding its global footprint. The company today announced the opening of a new publishing office in Berlin, Germany, with a stated goal of bolstering its business in Europe and Russia.

"The best way to serve our players is to have a local presence," Epic Games president Paul Meegan said. "Our European and Russian community is important to us, and establishing our Berlin office is the first step to ensuring they'll have a great day one experience with our games."

The new office will have a pair of managers divided by their geographic focus. Former Riot Games eSports publishing manager Paw Larsen will serve as Epic's director of publishing for Western Europe, while ex-Wargaming.net senior analyst Sergey Galyonkin will be the new director of publishing for Eastern Europe. Both Larsen and Galyonkin joined the company in February.

The Berlin office marks the eighth global outpost for North Carolina-based Epic. In addition to its three US offices, the company also has operations in Japan, Korea, China, and England.
