EGX Birmingham postponed to 2023

Industry caution over coronavirus prompts change of dates, EGX will return to London later this year

The return of EGX Birmingham has been postponed until next year.

The games expo was due to take place from March 3 to 5 at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, but will now be held in 2023. Dates will be announced at a later time.

The organisers at GamesIndustry.biz parent ReedPop announced the delay via a statement on the event's official website.

"Given the current climate and the knock-on effects of Omicron, many of our partners and brands are not yet ready to return to live events," the statement reads.

"At the end of the day, we felt that we wouldn't have been able to put on the awesome show your expect from us without them."

All tickets sold for EGX Birmingham 2022 will be automatically refunded within the next few weeks.

EGX London is still due to be held later this year.

GamesIndustry.biz was due to host career talks, portfolio reviews and more around the new Academy stage. The team is currently considering alternatives for the planned content.
