Capcom reveals new Hollwood deals

Publisher wants to do for videogame movies what Marvel did for comic book movies

Capcom has announced plans to team up with Hollywood film studios to jointly produce the latest in a line of movies based on its games.

The company's president, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, told Bloomberg that he hoped to revitalise videogame movies in a way similar to how Marvel Entertainment revitalised comic book movies.

"We are in the process of working out contracts for several offers we received at the Cannes Film Festival last week and hope to make an announcement soon," Tsujimoto explained.

"If realised, the projects will have a big impact on the game and movie industries."

A number of Capcom properties have been given the movie treatment, including three titles based on the Resident Evil IP. Capcom is currently joint-funding the USD 40m Street fighter movie with 20th Centruy Fox.
