Capcom posts record profits in latest financials

Success driven by strong performance of core titles like Monster Hunter: World which broke 11 million sales

Capcom has achieved record profits with its latest financial reports, driven by strong sales of its core properties.

The consolidated figures -- which account for the nine months leading up to December 31, 2018 -- show that operating income spiked 92% year-on-year, growing to $122.4 million.

This was coupled with a gross revenue of $557.6 million for the period, up 28.3% year-on-year.

Games accounted for the overwhelming majority of Capcom's revenue and income. The publisher saw a 55.2% jump in revenue from the segment, reaching $435.7 million total.

Monster Hunter: World continues as Capcom's best performing game to date, selling more than ten million units since launching in January last year, finding particular success on PC.

Capcom added that Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection and Mega 11 performed well, showing "healthy sales growth", while Onimusha sales were "off to a good start".

These healthy financials come shortly after Metacritic revealed Capcom was the highest-rated large publisher of 2018, thanks to a catalogue of core titles and remasters.
