Bioware: Mobile "right up there" with console

Bioware co-founders exploring mobile extensions of all existing franchises

Bioware expects mobile platforms to as important as consoles to its product strategy in future.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, Bioware founder Dr. Ray Muzyka admitted that Bioware was following EA's cross-platform push by looking into mobile extensions for all of its franchises.

In a previous interview, co founder Dr. Greg Zeschuk called the studio's Mass Effect: Galaxy mobile tie-in "a mistake," but he believes that the market has matured greatly since then.

"Mobile's going to be one of the dominant platforms going forward," he said. "It's going to be right up there with anything else - it already is in a sense."

In terms of dollar share, maybe not yet, but we're just starting down the hill on free-to-play on mobile devices. That's a big thing right now. So yeah, we take mobile pretty seriously."

This follows comments made by Zeschuk and Muzyka during a recent interview with, where they attributed Bioware's success to its ability to adapt to changing market conditions.

"Right now you will die if you're not adaptable," Zeschuk said. "The opportunities are greater than ever. Even when there's flux, that's when opportunity occurs, and if you're one of those people that grab that opportunity then that's a great place to be."

"The thing about all the different business models on new platforms is they're not a threat if you approach them in terms of a unified experience for consumers. We look at it as an IP universe," Muzyka added.
