Battle of the Sexes PT II

Bristol, England 27th August 2007: XboxGameZone today announced its upcoming event The Battle of the Sexes - Part II. In the summer of 2005 XboxGameZone hosted the UK's first 'Battle of the Sexes' event, the 4 day long battle between the Girls and Boys saw 25 matches played across in excess of 9 Xbox Live titles. Sadly the Girls lost (albeit by the tiniest margin) and have been out for revenge ever since. far be it from us to stand in their way so we're hosting another one!

Thanks to the huge success of the original Battle of the Sexes XboxGameZone is proud to confirm the support of leading game publishers including Microsoft, Ubisoft and Codemasters as well as the full support and involvement of community partners www.PanicZoom.eu, www.Britxbox.co.uk and the all girl team PZ Fallen Angels

"XboxGameZone's previous Battle of the Sexes was a warmly received change from the normal tournaments we see online, and this was reflected in the strong reaction from the community taking part. We're eager to see their reaction again to this fantastic tournament and we hope that the community steps up to the challenge" Chris Easton Online Marketing Manager, Ubisoft UK

"We're delighted to be able to support sites such as Xbox Game Zone who are fundamental in the growth and the support of our gaming community. Additionally and perhaps more importantly, it's obvious that the girls will win :)" - Samantha "Satine" Russell, Senior Community Manager from Codemasters.

"Having been involved in playing in the inaugural event back in 2005, I'm thrilled that PanicZoom have the opportunity to partner XGZ in what I'm sure will be an extremely popular and competitive event" said Paolo Cuturi Co-Founder & Content Manager of PanicZoom.eu. "Recent statistics suggest that up to 38% of gamers are women - the trouble is those figures represent largely single-play only. We hope exciting events like these will encourage more women to venture into the competitive world of online gaming. Hopefully going some way in reshaping the image of female gamers, helping raise industry awareness of the female market and prove that women can enjoy the same games as men".

Michael Rossell, Editor and Event Manager, Britxbox.co.uk said: "Britxbox is pleased to be supporting our partner XboxGameZone with their latest tournament: The Battle of the Sexes. All too often female gamers are trivialised or pigeon holed into playing games like Animal Crossing, we know better, we know that there are some girls out there who love putting plate sized holes in their opponentswith shotguns.

XGZ embraced this attitude with their last Battle of the Sexes event in 2005 and we're happy to be supporting the latest Battle of the Sexes event."

Battle commences Friday 7th September continuing for one week as the girls take on the boys once more across a range of Xbox & Xbox360 titles promising players explosive fun from Bomberman Live to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

XboxGameZone and The Battle of the Sexes welcomes players of all ages and skill levels so if you fancy a taste of the action why not stop by and get your name down.
