Detroit: Become Human has sold over 5m copies

Milestone achieved following launch of the game on Steam

Detroit: Become Human has sold over five million units, according to a press release from developer Quantic Dream.

The game hit this milestone exactly one month after it launched on Steam in June alongside fellow Quantic Dream titles Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, though it has also been available on PC via the Epic Games Store since December of 2019.

With its Steam launch, Detroit also received a Community Play feature that allowed Twitch streamers and viewers to make decisions in-game collaboratively.

Detroit was initially a PS4-exclusive, and sold two million copies in less than a year as the French studio's fastest-selling game to date.

"Launching Detroit: Become Human on Steam has been a delightful experience for us," said Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière. "The response we're seeing has been incredibly positive, in particular in Asian markets.

"We are also thrilled by the response garnered by the concomitant release of our Community Play extension for streamers and viewers on Twitch, which elevated a fundamentally single-player game into a social experience."
