Former Disney Infinity exec joins Gearbox

John Vignocchi to work on "new tent-pole franchise" for Borderlands studio

The former VP of production for the Disney Infinity franchise, John Vignocchi, has announced his next move. Vignocchi will join Borderlands studio Gearbox Publishing as executive producer for a new, as-yet-unannounced IP.

"Big news! Excited to announce I am joining the merry band of misfits at Gearbox Publishing," reads Vignocchi's tweeted announcement. "I'll be taking the reins as Executive Producer on a new tent-pole franchise for the company!!!

"We will be working on something that we hope will surprise and delight gamers of all ages; whether you're six or sixty... And I cannot wait to share more!"

Vignocchi spent seven years at Disney Interactive Studios, beginning as development director overseeing several different IPs, then moving to VP of production on the Disney Infinity platform from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, Vignocchi also had experience at Vogster Entertainment, as well as eight years in various roles at Midway Games.
