Spil users spend up to €45 on free-to-play games

Developers expected to make $5m via platform this year

Users of the Spil Games network spend up to €45 ($59/£37) on its free-to-play games according to new data released by the company.

Breaking down figures for 2011, the business has seen average revenue per user rise by almost 30 per cent each month since July.

And CEO Peter Driessen claims that developers can make more than $5 million on the Spil Games platforms - which now boasts more than 170 million unique users.

"The breadth of our offering and the personal approach available to developers is driving the kinds of numbers we're seeing on our platforms," said Spil Games' CEO Peter Driessen.

"Players clearly want to go to a platform specialised in online gaming, and this is a great opportunity for Triple-A developers. We expect they are positioned to make at least $5 million per title on our platforms this year."

Spil said that the average player spends 85 minutes per month playing online games, with Brazil and US the most popular regions. In 2011, Spil recorded 11 billion game plays.
