Arcane is awarded Emmy for Oustanding Animated Program

The show inspired by Riot Game's League of Legends is the first streaming series to win the category

This past weekend Fortiche Production announced that Arcane, which is based on Riot Games' League of Legends title, won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.

As reported by Eurogamer, it is the first streaming animated series to win in the category.

The Netflix production aired in November 2021 and shortly following its release went on to top the streaming service's watch list across multiple countries.

"Honored doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about winning the [Emmy] for Outstanding Animated Program," said in the announcement.

"Thank you to our incredible team at [Riot Games] and Fortiche, the [Television Academy], and the greatest fans (yes, you) for making this possible."

It was announced that a second season of Arcane is currently in production during November of last year.
