Amazon UK to discount Wii and 360 by 60% in Black Friday drive

Online retailer seeks to bring US shopping day to new territories

Amazon's UK arm is to introduce Black Friday, the annual US discount shopping day, to Britain.

Among the temporary price cuts on offer will be 60 per cent off the RRP for as-yet unspecified Wii and Xbox 360 console SKUs.

"For many years, shoppers in the US have enjoyed massive savings on great products as a result of the 'Black Friday' phenomenon," said Brian McBride, managing director of Amazon.co.uk.

"Amazon is always looking to offer exceptional value for money, especially in the run up to Christmas, and will replicate that activity for the benefit of all customers here in the UK."

A series of deals will run for five days, starting on Monday November 22.

Black Friday, which falls on the fourth Friday of every November, has been an important calendar date for US retailers. In 2009, it brought in over $10 billion.
