Amazon pens deal with dj2 Entertainment

The transmedia company behind 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog film is set to create exclusive content for Prime Video service

Today Amazon Studios announced that it has signed a first-look deal with video game adaptation production company dj2 Entertainment.

The movie, TV, and digital content creator is behind 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog film and this year's sequel.

The deal says that the studio will develop and produce content that will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

"The dj2 team has long believed that video games would one day serve as incredible source material for stories told in television and film, and that it was only the lack of love and respect for the artform which previously held successful adaptations back," said dj2 Entertainment CEO Dmitri M. Johnson.

The transmedia company is also currently working on more video game adaptations such as Echo, Life is Strange and Disco Elysium.
