Alec Meer joins GamesIndustry.biz team

Rock, Paper, Shotgun co-founder appointed deputy editor of leading trade community site

Rock, Paper, Shotgun co-founder Alec Meer has joined the editorial team on GamesIndustry.biz, as the new deputy editor.

He replaces Kath Brice, previously in the role, who left the company last month to pursue interests outside of the videogames industry.

"We're delighted that Alec's joined our team - he's a top writer with a strong track record, and his previous work building up Rock, Paper, Shotgun to the level it is today is an example of his talent," said GamesIndustry.biz managing editor Phil Elliott.

"He knows the business of games, has a great contacts book and we're really looking forward to seeing him develop even further."

And Meer added: "After a successful decade in consumer games journalism I'm really excited to be moving deeper into the heart of the games industry proper.

"GamesIndustry.biz takes the creators of games very seriously, and because of that - and its respected place in the industry - I'll be able to document how and why games get made, not simply how they turned out."

GamesIndustry.biz is set to bolster its team further, and will announce the appointment of an additional writer in the coming weeks.
