505 Games acquires Infinity Plus Two

Update: Digital Bros clarified that it acquired Infinite Interactive and Infinity Plus Two for $4.5 million

Update, January 15, 2021: Digital Bros clarified in a release on its website that it acquired Infinite Interactive and Infinity Plus Two for $4.5 million.

Original story, January 14, 2021: 505 Games' parent company Digital Bros purchased Melbourne-based developer Infinity Plus Two.

With this move, the firm hopes to solidify its position on the free-to-play market, with Infinity Plus Two being behind successful F2P series Puzzle Quest as well as RPG Gems of War, which was published by 505 Games.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Infinity Plus Two was founded by Australian developer Steve Fawkner, and has produced over 30 titles. The Puzzle Quest series has generated over $200 million in revenue to date and currently has 32 million users worldwide.

Fawkner will continue to head the studio as part of 505 Games' management team.

Infinity Plus Two will be the third studio to join the company, which already owns UK developer DR Studios and the Assetto Corsa series maker Kunos Simulazioni.

Clive Robert, head of free-to-play at 505 Games, commented: "IP2 is a proven studio with phenomenal success over the years. Their creative vision and extensive experience will be a great addition to 505 Games.

"The F2P market has seen a tremendous amount of growth and rise in popularity over the years and has always been a key facet of the company's growth strategy. As one of the leading third-party publishers of F2P games across multiple platforms, this latest acquisition solidifies our investment in internal development and builds on our library of owned IP."
