2K president Christoph Hartmann departs

2K Games president Christoph Hartmann has departed the games label, Take-Two has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz.

Hartmann has been involved in the Take-Two business for 20 years in various roles, before becoming part of the team that formed 2K Games in 2005.

Take-Two offered no reason for his departure nor has it revealed who will be leading the business in his place. However, it did insist that this leadership change will have no impact on the titles that are currently in development.

"We can confirm that there has been a management change at the leadership level of 2K," said Alan Lewis, VP of corporate communications and public affairs at Take-Two.

"For more than a decade, Christoph Hartmann has helped 2K to become an industry leader and we are grateful for his contributions and wish him well on his future endeavors. This change in leadership will have no impact on 2K's current pipeline of titles in development, and we look forward to this new chapter in the history of our label."

2K Games had a significant year of releases in 2016, including the likes of Battleborn, Civilization VI and Mafia III - alongside traditional annual releases such as NBA and WWE. In 2017, however, its release slate is somewhat lighter. Take-Two's other major games label, Rockstar, is currently scheduled to launch Red Dead Redemption 2 this year.
