Zone of the Enders sequel on hold, team disbanded

Issues with the HD remake cause sequel work to stop

In his recent HideoBlog web radio show, Kojima Productions director Hideo Kojima revealed that work on 'The Enders Project', a proposed sequel in the Zone of the Enders series, has ceased. According to a translation by Siliconera, issues with Zone of the Enders HD Collection for PlayStation 3 are the reason behind the stop in development.

The HD Collection changed the original games from 30 FPS to 60 FPS, and the classic gameplay didn't quite make the transition. Kojima Productions have gone back to the drawing board and will be releasing a free PlayStation 3 patch to improve performance. Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 version won't be getting a patch for the time being.

Since the HD Collection did not live up to fan expectations, the entire development team has been dismantled, meaning The Enders Project is done as well. Kojima said that he will be evaluating the franchise's prospects.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
