WonderPhone launches French mobile games portal

Manta debuts on all three French mobile phone services, with more than 150 java games available.

WonderPhone has announced the launch of Manta, a mobile content portal entirely devoted to games, which debuted in France recently.

Manta features more than 150 java games and more than 300 logos and ringtones, and is a direct to consumer service accessible through SFR, Orange and Bouygues Telecom.

The catalogue of games includes F1 title Alonso Racing, Croc Mobile, Worms Golf, Sensible Soccer, Crash Nitro Kart and other mobile products based on South Park, SWAT, Monopoly, Spyro the Dragon and Lemmings.

Consumers can access Manta through SFR's Vodafone Live! frontpage, and through Orange and Bouygues' Gallery kiosk system. It's also possible to download games using a premium SMS service.

In each case, costs are appended to mobile phone bills and payments are only processed once the game is correctly installed to the user's handset.

WonderPhone launched its mobile game division in May 2004, and currently enjoys working relationships with a great many mobile content providers. Manta will feature products from THQ Wireless, I-Fone, Digital Chocolate, Gaelco Moviles, Kaolink and Kuju Wireless, and WonderPhone currently holds the exclusive publishing and distribution rights to mobile titles based on Vivendi Universal Games' titles.

WonderPhone says its game catalogue is currently distributed in 40 countries by over 70 operators.
