VR title Beat Saber hits 100,000 sales in a month

Update: Hyperbolic Magnetism's rhythm game nears estimated $2 million in first month revenue

Update: Beat Saber has now reached 100,000 units sold, less than a month after it first launched. Hyperbolic Magnetism announced the new milestone on Twitter, which would amount to $2 million total revenue based on its $19.99 Steam price.

Original Story: Beat Saber has sold 50,000 units in its first week on sale, making it one of the fastest-selling virtual reality titles released so far.

Hyperbolic Magnetism's VR rhythm title launched for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality on May 1. The studio confirmed that Beat Saber has reached 50,000 sales in one week via Twitter, and set itself the goal of reaching 100,000 sales.

Based on its $19.99 price on Steam in the US, Beat Saber has earned just short of $1 million before the platforms take their cut. If accurate, that figure would put it ahead of market-leading titles like Survios' Raw Data and Vertigo's Arizona Sunshine, which both needed several weeks to reach $1 million in revenue.

And with gameplay based around striking blocks with virtual light-sabers, Beat Saber would seem to be an ideal fit for PSVR and the Move controllers. Hyperbolic Magnetism has not announced its plans for Sony's platform, but it represents a large untapped market for the Czech studio.
