Valve and HTC's VR collaboration, the Vive headset, opens for pre-orders today. International pricing has been confirmed and the details of the bundled software revealed, with orders heading out to customers on April 5 this year.

Included with the headset are positional trackers, two touch controllers and three pieces of software: Fantastic Contraption, Tilt Brush and Job Simulator. Orders are limited to one per customer and open at 3pm UK time, or 10am EST.
The package will cost $799 in the US, £689 in the UK and €899 in the rest of Europe. Full pricing details for other regions are available on the Vive Blog.
As expected, the pricing makes Vive the premium option for home VR at the moment, with Sony's PSVR pricing expected to slightly undercut Oculus Rift's cost of $599 when it's announced later this year. However, the Vive is currently the only device to offer room scale VR.
Update: The first indication of just how popular the HTC Vive will be among early adopters has been tweeted by Shen Ye, a VR product specialist at the company. According to Ye, the SteamVR headset received more than 15,000 pre-orders in virtually no time at all.
