The French games industry had over 1200 titles in production in 2019

63% of those games were new IP

In 2019, the French video game industry had a total of 1200 games in production, 63% of which were brand new IP, according to a survey of over 1,130 companies.

In an annual industry survey conducted by the French Video Game Trade Association (SNJV) and IDATE Digiworld, 50% of companies reported being development studios, while 42% were service or technology providers. Over half of the development studios are less than five years old.

In terms of hiring, 75% of employees were considered "permanent contracts," 23% were "fixed-term contracts," and only 2% were trainees. 57% of the companies surveyed said they would be hiring in 2020.

Across the French industry, 14% of employees are women, while 2% are non-binary. The percentage of women in the French industry has held steady since at least 2016, according to results of past surveys.
