Tapjoy appoints new vice president of Asia-Pacific

Larry Berkin previously worked with Symbian Foundation

Larry Berkin has been named as mobile company Tapjoy's new vice president and general manager of Asia-Pacific.

"Tapjoy is an incredible growth engine and an important global revenue platform for the rising tide of free, ad-supported mobile applications," said Berkin.

"The Asia-Pacific region has some of the most sophisticated mobile markets in the world and is full of entrepreneurial talent brimming with growth potential. I'm excited to lead Tapjoy's efforts there."

Berkin's experience includes a year as SVP of global alliances with Symbian Foundation, which was a non profit mobile software platform. Before that he spent six years as VP of ecosystem and corporate business development with ACCESS Co.

"With the rapid expansion of smartphones and free-to-play mobile applications throughout Asia-Pacific, the region is ripe for services like ours, and Larry Berkin is the perfect person to oversee our expansion there," said CEO Mihir Shah.

"Larry's industry connections and his get-it-done approach will serve us well as we look to become the dominant mobile app network not just in the U.S. and Europe but worldwide."

Last month the company appointed a new CFO in Al Wood.

As well as producing games like TapDefense, Tapjoy provides monetisation and distribution services for games and services selling virtual goods. This year it launched its own publishing platform for mobile and social developers.
