Take Two, 3D Realms confirm Human Head developed Prey

The resurrection of 3D Realms' much-hyped first person shooter project from the late 1990s, Prey, has been confirmed by publisher Take Two and 3D Realms boss George Broussard, with Human Head now on board as developer.

The resurrection of 3D Realms' much-hyped first person shooter project from the late 1990s, Prey, has been confirmed by publisher Take Two and 3D Realms boss George Broussard, with Human Head now on board as developer.

Rumours of the game's revival were stirred by CNN/Money's Chris Morris, who reported in his column a fortnight ago that it would be displayed at E3 - despite being widely believed to have been cancelled around five years ago.

Speaking to our sister site Eurogamer.net earlier this week, Take Two confirmed that the game is being developed using id Software's Doom 3 engine by Wisconsin-based developer Human Head.

The confirmation was echoed by 3D Realms studio president George Broussard, who revealed Human Head to be the developer of the game on the company's public message boards.

According to Take Two, the story of the game - an epic science fiction yarn which sees Native American warrior Talon Brave becoming an unwilling hero in a battle against a host of alien races - has not changed since the game last saw the light of day around five years ago.

The game is expected to take a bow in public at the E3 trade show next month in Los Angeles, and according to Take Two, should hit retail shelves this winter.
