Summer Games Done Quick raises $2.1m for Doctors Without Borders

Week-long charity speedrunning marathon brings organisation's cumulative fundraising to over $16 million

The organisers of Summer Games Done Quick have revealed the final total raised by its most recent event.

The 2018 edition of the speedrunning challenge generated $2,122,529.20 for the international medical aid charity Doctors Without Borders. This outperforms last year's total of $1.7m, which also went to Doctors Without Borders.

Summer Games Done Quick was a week-long marathon of video game speedruns and was attended by 2,200 fans, who travelled to Bloomington, Minnesota for the event.

To date, Games Done Quick events have now raised more than $16 million for charities, including the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Organization for Autism Research and CARE.

The organisers have detailed the next big charity events, starting with Game Does Quick Express at TwitchCon towards the end of October. This venture will raising money for all the charities that will be in TwitchCon's Charity Plaza.

Meanwhile, the dates have now been confirmed for Awesome Games Done Quick 2019. It will take place from January 6th to 13th at Rockville, Maryland.
