Ever since Sony and Immersion patched up their differences, rumours have been rife over whether or not that would pave the way for a new rumble-enabled version of the Sixaxis pad to be developed.

Even after issuing a denial to GamesIndustry the rumour's refused to go away, so now the company is giving it another go.

According to Dave Karraker in a statement to GamePro, Sony's director of corporate communications, the company has "not added rumble [to PS3], and have no announcements regarding this feature."

He went on to admit that development work is ongoing to the Sixaxis however: "From time to time, we make minor enhancements to the controllers for our platforms."

"We recently sent out to the development community some new prototypes that have a slightly enhanced sensitivity for the analogue sticks and motion sensing within the Sixaxis controller."
