Sony Japan kills PSP comics

No more content after March 15, to close in September

Sony Japan will cease to deliver new comic book content for the PSP to the PlayStation Store on March 15, and the service will close altogether in September.

The news came from Andriasang, which also reported that Sony planned to offer the digital comic content in some other way.

While the comics tab will disappear from the Japanese PlayStation store, the Comic Reader app will still be available until the end of the year, and those with purchased comics will be able to download them until then.

In July last year the US and European PlayStation Stores saw their last comic store updates, although the 4000 existing comics are still available. Sony have yet to confirm whether or not the comics service will come to Vita, but at the time of the announcement the official PlayStation blogs reported "the Digital Comics Team are now working on bringing the comic service to other Sony devices."
