Slaves of Rema

Third in the Gamebook Adventures series now available from the App Store.

MEDIA RELEASE

Monday 13 September 2010

Gamebook Adventures returns to the iPhone and iPod Touch with a higher resolution experience for iPhone 4 users, as well as the release of a brand new interactive book. Tin Man Games has announced that Gamebook Adventures 3: Slaves of Rema is now available to download from the App Store, along with major updates to An Assassin in Orlandes and The Siege of the Necromancer.

The third gamebook takes the reader away from Orlandes after they have been cruelly abducted. Finding themselves in a far off land, and at the mercy of a gladiatorial arena, they must somehow find a way to escape overseas. The reader must also unravel a potentially dangerous mystery that puts two nations on the brink of war!

Slaves of Rema retains all the exciting features of the previous two gamebooks as well as significant changes, which have been applied to the whole series. These include the addition of three difficulty levels, which give the reader even more choice in how they tackle the book, as well as the inclusion of a new shield value, to better defend yourself in battles, and better access to inventory and settings while reading the book.

Neil Rennison, creative director for Tin Man Games said: “We had loads of great feedback from our fans about the first two books and one of the major negative remarks was that some readers found the books too tough and complained at not having enough bookmarks. With the inclusion of a new „Bookworm? difficulty level, those readers who want a more casual gamebook experience should find them less frustrating and more compelling now. Our hardcore fans need not fear though as we have kept a Classic mode just for them.”

With the release of the iPhone 4, Tin Man Games has gone back and created new artwork for the gamebooks at a higher resolution, which means that the books are nicer to read and the illustrations are crisp and detailed.

“It was important to us that our titles looked great on the new retina display, so we took the time to change the artwork across all three titles including the menus, illustrations and user interface – there is a lot of art in there for a reading app! It also enabled us to start looking to the future and prepare ourselves for the upcoming iPad iterations, which we?re very excited about.” Neil said.

Last month the first gamebook, An Assassin in Orlandes, was a finalist at the Freeplay Independent Games Festival Awards for its evocative music and the original composer, Adrian Watkins, returns again to deliver a moody soundtrack for Slaves of Rema.

Gamebook Adventures 3: Slaves of Rema is available to download from the App Store now and normally costs USD$4.99. As a special promotion for its release, all three Gamebook Adventures titles are on sale for USD$2.99 for a limited time.
