Sensible Object raises $3.2 million for R&D, customer acquisition

Sensible Object announced today that its latest funding round has brought in $3.2 million. Investors included NCSOFT and March Capital heading up the funding, with London Venture Partners and the Amazon Alexa Fund also participating.

The funding will go toward R&D support, customer acquisition, and the development of new products in the coming months. With this funding round, Sensible Object has received over $5 million in total investments.

In addition to this funding news, Sensible Object also plans to launch When in Rome this summer. When in Rome is a travel trivia game that uses Amazon Alexa as the host, MC, and scorekeeper. The game will be available as a free Alexa skill download, or as a boxed game that can be played without Alexa. The game was designed in collaboration with Alexa Accelerator, powered by Techstars, a program which partners with startups looking to use voice-powered technologies and offers them access to tools such as the Alexa Skills Kit to help develop their products.

"Sensible Object was founded on the belief that we can offer players the best of physical, digital and human play, and I'm very proud of the team's achievements so far," said founder and CEO of Sensible Object Alex Fleetwood. "We're excited to be working at the cutting edge of smart home technology and voice AI with Amazon Alexa, creating a completely new kind of gameplay built around social interactions and active listening."

Sensible Object will continue development of its flagship game, Beasts of Balance, which was Kickstarted in 2016 and had a successful expansion also Kickstarted in 2017. The developer will also begin work on a second game in its "Voice Originals" series following after When in Rome.
