Sega Sammy has announced a 23 per cent drop in profits during the first nine months of the financial year, despite a steady performance by its videogame business.

Between April and December, net income was down from YEN 63.49 billion (EUR 405.88 million) last year to 49.38 billion (EUR 317.25 million).

During the same period, sales were down by almost 4 per cent to reach YEN 404.29 billion (EUR 2.59 billion). According to Sega Sammy, its slot machines and amusement arcade products performed well and videogame sales were healthy - but sales of pachinko machines were on the decline.

The company's group net profit forecast for the full financial year remains at YEN 60 billion (EUR 385.18 million), with group sales of YEN 580 billion (EUR 3.72 billion) expected.
