Rollerball To Roll out Across Europe

DB brings another leading MGM franchise to the mobile platform

London, UK - 8th December 2004: The dbigames publishing unit of Digital Bridges, a world leader in the creation and distribution of mobile entertainment solutions, today announced the launch of the mobile game edition of RollerballTM, a non-stop adrenaline packed sports thriller. Through their licensing agreement with MGM Interactive, a unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (NYSE:MGM), the title is due to go live across leading European wireless network operators later this month.

RollerballTM is based on Norman Jewison's 1975 iconic sci-fi thriller about future sports. The storyline of the movie naturally transcends to the cutting-edge mobile gameplay that Distinctive Developments and Digital Bridges have faithfully created, including its powerful mix of futurism, sport and combat.

Survival is the name of the game in this high-octane sport where only the strongest make it through the season. Based on the cult movie, RollerballTM the game faithfully recreates the manic atmosphere of the film. Gamers can play a quick match or a full 30 game league season. They can play and manage their team while avoiding injuries or sending their boys to the gym to bulk up. Rollerball offers an exciting mix of contact sport, team dynamics and corporate mystery in a title that is destined to be a classic.

Key features of the RollerballTM game, include:

  • Stunning graphics featuring realistic banked curves.
  • Two game modes: In Quick Mode play against any of the 6 opposition teams. In League Mode play a full 30 minute season.
  • During the game, control the skater nearest the ball and manage the team throughout the season.

RollerballTM is DB's latest MGM title release following hot on the heels of PlatoonT and RobocopT. DB also launched a raft of other exciting titles this quarter, including EA's FIFA Football 2005 Mobile International EditionT, 2 Fast 2 FuriousT, Colin McRae Rally 2005T and dbi 3-D Pool, with more titles to launch before Christmas.

Paul Maglione, Senior Vice President of Publishing and Marketing for Digital Bridges commented: "The game is packed with futurism, sport and combat that has a great fit with the mobile gameplay.
