Riot Games postpones Valorant tournament due to war in Ukraine

"Our number one priority is to support the players, casters, staff and fans affected by the escalating crisis in Ukraine," Riot said

Riot Games has announced the postponement of the third week of its 2022 EMEA Valorant Champions Tour due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

There are several Russian and Ukrainian players among the teams competing in the tournament, including Gambit, Natus Vincere, FunPlus Phoenix, and Acend, Dot Esports reported.

In a message shared on Twitter via the official account for the competition, Riot Games said: "After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone VCT EMEA Week 3 games. Our community's welfare is integral to us and at this time, our number one priority is to support the players, casters, staff and fans affected by the escalating crisis in Ukraine.

"We will provide an update on the new schedule as soon as we can. In the meantime, please keep an eye on our social channels for further updates."

Since the beginning of the Russian attacks against Ukraine yesterday, many studios have called for industry and player support. Raw Fury, 11 Bit Studios and GOG teamed up to raise money for the Ukrainian Red Cross, while GSC Game World and Yehven8 called for donations, among others.
