Pokémon Quest generates $3m in first week on mobile

Becomes No. 1 most downloaded free game on Japanese App Store

Just seven days since arriving on mobile, Game Freak's Pokémon Quest has generated $3 million in global revenue and racked up 3.5 million downloads.

The figures come courtesy of market intelligence firm Sensor Tower which show that the majority of spending is on iOS, at 56 per cent total, compared to 44 per cent on Android.

Japan is the most lucrative region for Pokémon Quest, accounting for 31 per cent of spending.

Meanwhile, the US represents around 25 per cent, followed by South Korea at about 12 per cent.

First launched on the Switch in May, Pokémon Quest arrived on mobile last week and is currently ranked No. 52 for iPhone revenue in Japan and No. 76 in the US.

In terms of downloads, it is the No. 1 free app on the Japanese App Store, compared to No. 18 in the US, and No. 2 in South Korea.
