PlayStack acquires Hisome

London-based publisher renames studio to PlayStack Oy as it gains majority stake

PlayStack has acquired Finnish developer Hisome, the London-based publisher announced today. As part of the acquisition, Hisome has been renamed to PlayStack Oy, which will focus on developing new games and forming relationships with publishing and funding partners.

With the acquisition, PlayStack holds a majority stake in Hisome, which has been working on both unannounced games and technology over the last two years.

"Our partnership with Juha [Huhtakallio, PlayStack Oy general manager] and his incredibly talented team is a further signal of our commitment to publishing the best games as well as harnessing the rich developer talent that is so highly evident in the Nordic, Baltic and Russian region," said PlayStack CEO Harvey Elliott. "This acquisition gives PlayStack a firm foothold in the region as well as an award-winning and talented team in our new Helsinki offices to create some amazing games and technologies."

Earlier this year, PlayStack launched a new game development marketing fund that lent developers money for user acquisition and marketing as part of what Elliott referred to as a bid to "fix the games industry."
