Player X hits double-tops with Bullseye mobile game

Mobile media company Player X has expanded its presence in the TV game show space by signing an exclusive licence agreement with Granada Ventures, the merchandise, licensing and publishing division of ITV, and Andrew J. Wood Enterprises, creator of Bullseye, to bring the legendary TV game show to mobile phones.

Under the terms of the Bullseye agreement, Player X will publish a mobile game version of the darts game show, developed by Morpheme Game Studios, that has been on British television for 25 years, and is considered by many to be one of the most iconic shows in the history of British television.

Hosted by well-known club comedian Jim Bowen, his catchphrases such as 'Super, smashing, great' are etched in TV folklore and the strength of the brand still remains. The show was revived earlier this year by Challenge TV when new presenter Dave Spikey presided over a show that broke all viewing records on that channel.

Katie Foster, Licensing Director, Granada Ventures comments: "We are extemely pleased to work with Player X on bringing the hugely popular Bullseye show to mobile and understand the importance of this format to our consumers. Fans can interact with the original show icons and gameplay that made Bullseye legendary."

While the Bullseye mobile game has been designed especially for a mobile screen, it also faithfully replicates the format of the TV original by allowing contestants to play along to the original gameshow rules. The game maintains the cheesy humour and all the dart action and also features Bully, the cartoon character that was an integral part of the show.

"Our suite of game show mobile games is increasing by the month and we're convinced Bullseye will prove to be a best-seller both on operators' decks and off-portal. Granada Ventures is committed to the mobile space and we're delighted to be helping to take this distinctive brand to a new and receptive audience," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.

The news follows Player X's success in publishing and distributing mobile games throughout 2006. Recent successes include the exclusive mobile game of this summer's MiamiVice blockbuster movie, TV hits Family Fortunes and Blockbusters ; and the Oscar-winning film Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
