Ryan King joins Imagine's PlayStation mag as editor.

Imagine Publishing is proud to announce the appointment of Ryan King as new Editor of Play, the UK’s bestselling independent PlayStation magazine. Arriving from rival Future, King’s first issue is the landmark 200th issue.

Joining Imagine’s award-winning videogames team, Ryan King is set to lead Play in an exciting new direction, promising even more success for the longest-running PlayStation magazine. With the PlayStation market ready to be boosted by several huge releases in 2011, including Uncharted 3 and the latest Killzone, Play is primed to widen the gap further between itself and its competitors.

“It’s an honour to be joining such a prestigious, industry leading brand,” veteran King revealed. “I’ve long been an admirer of Play and I am looking forward to leading it into the future at a time when the PlayStation brand itself is also rocketing forward in the market.”

Editor in Chief Aaron Asadi added, “We are delighted to announce Ryan as Editor of one of our most treasured brands. A veteran of the industry and former Imagineer, Ryan’s appointment is a real coup for the magazine. He has some fantastic ideas for the magazine and website and we can’t wait to see them come to fruition.”

Launched in 1995, Play is the UK’s longest-running PlayStation- dedicated magazine. The bestselling independent PlayStation magazine, Play has recently celebrated two remarkable milestones: its 200th issue and passing the 10 million copies sold mark.

Imagine Publishing is one of the UK’s fastest-growing consumer specialist publishers. Formed in May 2005, Imagine now publishes 20 regular print magazines, 29 digital apps on the iPad/iPhone, and 27 websites in the videogames, computing, entertainment, motoring and photography markets. An Imagine magazine is purchased every ten seconds.
