PlanetAxel shuts down due to bankruptcy

PlanetAxel, a popular games and electronics retailer for European gamers wishing to import from the US, has announced its closure, mainly due to sluggish sales and having to fight an uphill battle that has resulted in their bankruptcy. The company, which has been running for well over 18 years, cited "insurmountable deficit and loss" in 2011 and will now work to get its last remaining orders out until its accounts are closed.

On a personal note I would like [to] apologize to everyone that will be somehow affected or inconvenienced by this matter," said general manager Rasmus Christiansen on the website.

"I've spent half my life with the company (18 years in total) and it all ended today. This is not 'just business' to me, but sincerely personal. I can honestly say that this has been a sad, sad day for all of us here at the office but the fact that so many suppliers, affiliates, employees and most important of all, customers are affected by this bankruptcy is almost unbearable.

"On behalf of everyone at PlanetAxel.com I offer my sincerest and heartfelt apologies and thank you for your support over the years."

The company, in an FAQ posted to its main page, has pledged to ship all orders from June 18 and prior. Unfortunately, any and all orders made that cannot be completed will be refunded as best possible. The team at PlanetAxel has informed customers to wait until June 25 to start talking with their banks or credit card companies to see about a bank resolution.
