NPD: $156m spent on Xbox 360 games in May

"Unprecedented demand" for new slim 360, says Microsoft

Over $156 million were spent on Xbox 360 software during the month of May, upping the attach rate of games to Microsoft's console to 8.9.

Read Dead Redemption was the biggest title of the month, with over 945,000 units sold on the Xbox 360 compared to more than 567,000 on the PlayStation 3. THQ's UFC 2010 also sold better on 360, with Remedy's exclusive Alan Wake and EA's Xbox version of Skate 3 also charting in the top ten.

According to Microsoft, consumers spent $254 million on Xbox 360 hardware, software and peripherals during May. Looking forward, the company stated that retail is feeding back positive demand for the new slim Xbox 360 SKU.

"We are hearing great feedback from retailers that the new Xbox 360 250GB is experiencing unprecedented demand," said the company.
