"No plans" for Wii MotionPlus backwards compatibility

Wii Remote accessory to work with future titles only, according to the Nintendo

Nintendo has confirmed that it has no plans to make the Wii MotionPlus compatible with non-MotionPlus titles, meaning that it will only work with specifically-developed games moving fowards.

The device, which plugs into the base of the Wii Remote, promises to deliver greater accuracy with the motion control through closer tracking of user movements.

"There are currently no plans to make it compatible with existing non-Wii MotionPlus enabled titles," commented Nintendo.

As announced earlier this week, the new accessory will be released in the US on June 8 and EU on June 12, with the first compatible title, Wii Sports Resort, coming out on July 26.
