Night in the Woods wins Independent Games Festival grand prize

Infinite Fall's debut game also recognised for Excellence in Narrative

Infinite Fall's Night in the Woods was recognised twice at last night's Independent Games Festival, receiving both the $30,000 Seamus McNally Grand Prize for best game, and top honours for Excellence in Narrative.

The ceremony took place as part of GDC 2018 at the Moscone Convention Centre in San Francisco.

The only other game to receive multiple awards was Baba is You, from developer Hempuli. It was recognised for Best Student Game and Excellence in Design, receiving a total of $6,000 in prize money.

Getting Over It from developer Bennett Foddy received the Nuovo Award, which recognises entries that make jurors "think differently about games as a medium."

Taking home the award for Excellence in Visual Art was Chuchel from Amanita Design, while Uurnog Uurnlimited from Nifflas Games was recognised for Excellence in Audio.

Meanwhile Celeste from Celeste Team received the Audience Award, and Puppet Pandemonium was honored with the alt.ctrl.GDC Award.

UK charity SpecialEffect was also recognised at the night, receiving the ID@Xbox Gaming for Everyone Award.
