NCsoft announces single subscription fee for two MMORPGs

Announced at the City of Villains preview event on San Francisco's Alcatraz Island, NCsoft announced a unified monthly subscription fee of USD 14.95 for both City of Heroes and partner game City of Villains.

NCsoft has announced a unified monthly subscription fee of USD 14.95 / 12.99 Euro for both City of Heroes and partner game City of Villains at the City of Villains preview event on San Francisco's Alcatraz Island.

The combination deal will also provide gamers with four additional character slots per game server, encouraging existing subscribers of the super hero game to dabble in the dark side and experience the forthcoming City of Villains at a competitive rate.

City of Villains, due for release on October 31st, is designed to run as a standalone product, and in conjunction with City of Heroes. Provided gamers have purchased both core games, the new monthly subscription fee will enable fans to experience good and bad for a single monthly price.

"We know that many City of Villains players will be existing City of Heroes players who are essentially playing in order to access another aspect of the universe they have grown to love," explained NCSoft Europe's director of products, Thomas Bidaux. "We wanted to find a solution that would look after existing players, offer tremendous value for money and also encourage new players to investigate the world of City of Heroes. This is that solution," he concluded.

Robert Garriott, CEO of NCsoft North America concurs: "This single subscription rate for subscribers to City of Villains and City of Heroes represents a great value for our customers and demonstrates our efforts to put our players first."

Jack Emmert, creative director for developers Cryptic Studios added: "By keeping the cost to USD 14.99 / 12.99 Euro for subscribers to both games, we are encouraging players to use all of the functionality we built into the games."

In addition to the four extra character slots, subscribers will gain access to cross over game modes and additional functionality from both titles, expanding the virtual gaming universe and the gameplay possibilities for fans of both titles.

City of Villains will be available on October 31st, retailing as a standard game pack, and a unique Collectors Edition which includes an exclusive artwork book, figurines and in-game items.
