Monster Hunter Tri ships 1 million units ahead of launch

Game distributed in higher numbers than any other third-party Wii release to date

Ahead of its release in Japan this Saturday, Monster Hunter Tri has already shipped over one million units to retailers.

The numbers make it the first third-party Wii title to ship over one million units in the region. As a series, Monster Hunter has now surpassed ten million units shipped, according to figures released on the Capcom blog.

Monster Hunter Tri is the first game in the franchise to be released onto the Nintendo Wii. It promises enhanced graphics and an expanded world, and also marks the first time players will be able to hunt underwater beasts. Online multiplayer, split-screen co-op and an Arena fighting mode is also included in the new home console version.
